Louise Green – Big Fit Girl

If I had to choose my most inspring client of the year so far, it would definitely be Louise Green. The first time I met Louise 8 years ago, we were both at a Mom centered networking event. Louise actually was a mom (her son Eli is such a sweetheart!) and I was there because I was trying to meet Moms to grow my budding family photography business.

It turns out she had a new business, the Body Exchange, a fitness company dedicated to plus-sized women and needed shots for that so we set up our first shoot together.

From Body Exchange to Big Fit Girl

Since that first shoot I have had the pleasure of working with Louise too many times to count. An image from a fierce lifestyle session we shot in 2015 even became the cover of her groud breaking book Big Fit Girl.

In Big Fit Girl, Louise Green describes how the fitness industry fails to meet the needs of plus-size women and thus prevents them from improving their health and fitness. By telling her own story of how she stopped dieting, got off the couch, and unleashed her inner athlete—as well as showcasing similar stories from other women—Green inspires other plus-size women to do the same.

I have read the book myself and it truly is an amazing tool for anyone looking to improve their lifestyle. We can all be healthy, strong and be proud of the bodies we are in, no matter what size.

Big Fit Girl: The App. The Empire. Coming Soon

Our latest session was shot at Mountain Fitness, a gorgeous gym right here in Squamish. We had the big bright space to ourselves for an hour before it was open to the public on a Saturday morning. So awesome.

These might just be our strongest and most powerful images we have created together yet. When it comes to photography, Louise really gets it, which makes her even more amazing to work with.

We both put in time to prepare for this shoot. Planning all the elements like wardrobe, hiring professional hair and make up and choosing the right location in advance are super important. The goal here is to create images that are aligned and on-brand, and that takes some forethought.

Working with Louise to create new content for her upcoming Big Fit Girl site and app was so kick ass. When we work together, magic happens.

The work Louise is doing to abandon aprehensions around body image and empower women through fitness is so incredible. Follow her on instagram @LouiseGreen_BigFitGirl and you’ll see what I mean. Louise is changing lives in such a positive way.

Louise is a change maker who is defying the status quo and turning the fitness industry on its head. I am honoured to be a part of her journey. Working with her has inpired me to change the way I think about my body and helped me see that strong bodies come in all shapes and sizes.

Thank you Louise for all that you do and I can’t wait for our next shoot together!
