    Dress For Success Vancouver

    empowering women into the workforce

If you know me, you know I am passionate about using my mad photo skills to give back. Contributing positively to my community is so important to me and I am thrilled I had the opportunity to support Dress for Success Vancouver in February. In January I was hired by Sophia Financial Group to capture their Sophia Wealth Academy event. It is a day of financial education, inspiring workshops, a dynamic community of learners and powerful speakers. This day was truly inspiring and even though I was behind my camera most of the time I learned a lot.

When I discovered that all of the proceeds from this huge event were going to local charity Dress for Sucess Vancouver I was so pumped. To me, seeing Tracy Theemes and Kamal Basra of Sophia Financial Group put so much work into creating this event and then not making a profit from it was truly inspirational. I met Dress for Success Executive Director Jennifer Halinda at the event and told her right away I wanted to be involved too.

Less than a month later I found myself surrounded by women who were volunteering to help other women get the help and support they need to by providing them with professional attire, career services, and skills development programs. It was a magical couple hours as I watched these women get thier hair and makeup done and choose a new outfit from thousands of items all donated by women in our community. Ending the day with a portrait of their beautiful selves was the icing on the cake.

How can you help Dress for Success Vancouver?

Do you have clothing, shoes and/or accessories that are nice and still in good condition? Donate them!

Are you handy like I am with a camera? Every month DFSV puts on hope and style days like the one I was at and they need photographers to capture these beautiful women.

There are many other volunteer opportunities and you can check them out online here: https://vancouver.dressforsuccess.org/get-involved/volunteer/
