Capturing Siblings | Lifestyle Portraits
It’s been a while since I’ve posted! Summer is a busy time, and it seems it will be over before we know it. I’ve decided to embrace the business and love every minute of it. However, as I write this it’s after 7pm and I still have to pack for a mini-adventure to Hornby Island tomorrow morning.
While editing a few lifestyle portraits from a recent session with the beautiful Bianca Bujan, of Bee Communications, and her adorable family, I thought to myself…my readers might like to know a few of my tricks for capturing siblings.
The best trick when working with kids is to get them away from their parents for a few minutes. I whispered to Bianca’s daughter and son, “I needed your help for a surprise for mom and dad.”
After I told them our little secret about how much their parents would love and cherish a sweet picture of the two of them together, they quickly agreed. We had a lot of fun in just a few minutes. When I was done, I knelt down next to them so that they could see the mini-screen on my camera. They just loved seeing a photograph of them smiling sweetly together—one that mom and dad would not have the same special privilege to see.
What made my time so special with this brother and sister was their thoughtful and sweet personalities. They quickly let me know that it would be their parents anniversary just 2 days after our session. They were so excited to share a special secret photograph that mom and dad would have to wait to see.
