Aloha from Hawaii
It’s time for another travel post! This time we headed back to the familiar Hawaiian Island of Maui for a week of sand, sun and surf. I am incredibly grateful to our good friends who joined us and made this trip possible, and to our sweet Aupair who came along. This was our 3rd trip to Hawaii with the boys, and the older they get the more fun they are to travel with! They had a blast playing in the sand, learning some new skills in the pool and generally being awesome. These kids travel so well and family vacations have taken on a whole new level of amazing.
If you are planning a trip with 2 year olds, I highly recommend bringing their car seats onto the plane and strapping them in for sleepy time. They were familiar with sleeping in the seats and it gave Mom and Dad a place to rest their heads too. We also brought their life jackets, and they loved experimenting with their own independence around the pool and the adults could relax just a tad bit more knowing they float!
We took a couple road trips to show the group’s newcomers-to-Maui the gorgeous landscapes that the tiny island has to offer. Taking the Honoapiilani Hwy north from Lahaina to check out the world famous surf spot, Honolua Bay, and sample some of Julia’s world famous Banana bread on the way back to Kahului was one afternoon adventure. Visiting the epic landscape of the Haleakala Crater and taking in the beautiful vistas on the way up was another. And let’s not forget how awesome the surfing and snorkelling is in Maui, needless to say we spent a lot of time at the beach and in the water.
Between my professional Canon DSLR, my Fuji X20, my iPhone and my hubby’s GoPro, not a lot of moments were left undocumented. Here are a few of may faves… enjoy!
