    Leon, Nicaragua: My travels

Last November I took a trip of a lifetime with two beautiful friends of mine. How often do Moms get to go away for 10 days without thier families in tow? Not too often. I believe where there is a will theres a way and I have ALWAYS wanted to attend a yoga and surf retreat.  We decided to explore a little and get acclimatized before diving into the retreat with Tanya from Shala Yoga in Squamish. On our way to Rise Up Surf on the north west coast of Nicaragua we stopped in the old colonial city of Leon. It was a beautiful little city, the locals were so friendly and without much of an agenda we cruised around by foot from our Hotel and took in the sites. We learned about Nocaragua’s recent and violent history, we saw traditional festival type performances happen right before our eyes and we discovered that eating plant based in the country wasn’t super easy! It was hard to find a good salad 😉 We relaxed poolside at our adorable little Hotel Azul to escape the mid-day heat. It was the perfect way to unwind for a couple days before heading to the retreat. Stay tuned for another blog post all about the amazing yoga and surf retreat we went on 🙂
