Holiday Traditions: Searching for the Perfect Tree
Since having kids, I’ve gotta say, this time of year is so much more fun! The simple things that we as adults take for granted come alive as we relive chritmas past through the eyes of our children. Traditions play a big part of this season and one of ours is selecting and cutting down our own christmas tree. This tradition reminds me how deeply fortunate we are to live surrounded by natural beauty. To find our tree this year we ventured north to Squamish and set out under the power lines. Something interesting to note around the legality of cutting down trees in the forest is that it is not allowed except in areas under power lines. With saw in hand we trucked through the bush until we found our perfect tree. As boys will be boys, they are very interested in all of Dad’s tools, including the saw. Teaching our kids about safety and letting them handle some of the tools was another great part of the experience. This series of images tells of our little adventure perfectly. Mama even managed to make it into a couple shots with the help of a tripod and a wireless shutter remote.
